Bypassing Firewall/Proxy Settings with Dreamweaver CS3

    jljr222
      Hello,

The company that I work for has given us Dreamweaver CS3 and it's great, however we have a problem with the companies firewall blocking Dreamweaver from seeing external images when in "Design" view. I have search throughout Google for a solution and have yet to find one. I come here in the hopes that someone can help. Our IT department has told me that the firewall solution they use does not allow rule sets per application, so they cannot just say "allow this program to use the web". This leaves me in a tough spot, but they said in Dreamweaver CS3 has a way to setup a proxy and allow it to bypass our firewall that would make this quick and easy. Does DW have something like this, and if so then please point me in the right direction!

      I appreciate all assistance.

      Regards,
      John

Maybe not per application but certainly by PC or IP adress. Can they put
your IP adress in a rule less agressif.

Unfortunately I cannot, the company has very strict policies about users and their connectivity. This is why I would like to know of any way to utilize a proxy giving DW direct access to the web in Design View. Trust me I have gone through almost all options and this one is the quickest.

it sounds like you're using an RDS "site" instead of a "regular" site
definition. Are you working LIVE on the remote files? We have a proxy here
at my work also, and the IT dept is also rather strict in the proxy rules,
but I have no such issue with image in Design View (but I'm also not using
an RDS - all files are worked on locally before sending to the server).
