CS3/CS4 Font list sections and where to install new fonts

    Skempy Community Member
      Hi,

Can anybody please tell me why there are different sections in my list of fonts separated by a rule?

      C:\WINDOWS\Fonts,
      C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe InDesign CS3\Fonts
      or
      C:\Program Files\Common Files\Adobe\Fonts

Would this be any different for CS4.

Off topic: Where does Flash CS3/CS4 look for Fonts?

      Thanks

InDesign lists fonts according to language classification, so the Roman faces are listed first, followed by Asian language groupings, and if there is a font that ID doesn't know how to classify it will be placed in a group at the end of the list.

Fonts installed in the Windows fonts folder are available to all applications on your computer. Those in the common\Adobe\Fonts folder are available to Adobe applications only, and those in an application-specific font folder are only available to that application.

            Peter,

Thanks for the info about the language classification. The second part is as I expected, I needed clarication as some people I am working with will not accept my explaination.
