P Spier Jun 30, 2008 2:17 AM (in response to Michael R. Davis)Have you called Agfa to find out about a driver update? -

P Spier Jun 30, 2008 3:29 AM (in response to Michael R. Davis)You might also want to try exporting to PDF and see if that will print. It should be faster than inx (and should probably process and print faster than the native files, too). -

Yes I have the latest driver available which is quite old (latest update was for Windows 98) and I have also used the PDF workaround several times.
Thanks for your interest. -

P Spier Jul 4, 2008 5:21 PM (in response to Michael R. Davis)What level postscript does that thing support? Sounds pretty old. -

Al Ferrari Jul 5, 2008 7:51 AM (in response to Michael R. Davis)It's a problem with older rips. See:

The solution is a newer rip:

Level 2, and about 10 years old but does a great job, we cannot afford a CTP system as our daily output of plates is too low.

Thanks for the links, I will check them out. -

Al Ferrari Jul 6, 2008 12:15 PM (in response to Michael R. Davis)If you cannot justify the newer rip-kits, you can use the solution I summarized in #11 in the thread at the first link I gave above, and continue with the same rip. But consider that during the time span of a lease for a rip-kit, there will be two or three new versions of InDesign, and IDCS2 may/may not be able to process future pdfs into postscript that it can handle.
In my own situation, I continue to use the older rip with the IDCS2 work around, but with the knowledge that the workflow will eventually break.
