How do I buy ALM?
although this was not related to my question: The adobe license manager can be downlowded from this website, you may need it when you buy Adobe Acobat 8 licenses.
Please take a look at this thread: http://www.adobeforums.com/cgi-bin/webx/.3bc2445b
This user descrbes the process he used to run the Adobe and Autodesk license servers under the same instance of the FLEX license server manager.
ALM is free. You don't need to buy it. Customers get access to ALM and all ALM related tools when buying Acrobat 8.0 through any of Adobe's volume licensing programs.
thanks for the hint. Jason Vorbaum mentioned that he got the Adobne License Server running on a different port. That was what we tried too, but were not successful till now. Is there something special we have to consider?
To run Adobe License server on a fixed port, stop the Adobe License service, you need to open adobe.lic in notepad and change the first line to SERVER this_host ANY 27002. Save the file and start the server. This way you can force the Adobe LM to run on fixed port.
Thanks for your help, Adobe license Manager is running now.
I think you should be able to specify the port number from within your license file.
Then you should be able to get it start up at another port. Also be sure to read it's log file. This way you can see if it matches your expectations.
Once you get it running you might want to see your license usage. We use License Statistics for our other products: http://www.x-formation.com/license_statistics/index.html
The solution is to run flexlm servers on fixed ports.
For example, to run Adobe License Server on fixed port say 27000, modify adobe.lic file. First stop the Adobe License service, Open the adobe.lic file in notepad (any text editor) and change the first line to SERVER this_host ANY 27000. Save and close the file and start the Adobe License Service.
Similarly, you may specifiy the fixed port in other flexlm servers. Adobe Console by default assumes the license server is running on default ports i.e. 27000-27009, you may specify the license server port where the Console should talk to the Adobe License Server (via Admin Tab->License Server configuration web page).
Thanks a lot for the help, its is solved (since January).
