    Dreamweaver does not keep the fonts I copy from MS Word

      Yesterday I was copying a MS Word document that uses Ariel Black & Ariel and pasting into Dreamweaver.
      That was working fine yesterday.

      But today Dreamweaver does not keep the font but substitutes another font (probably Times).

      I have not changes any parameters in Dreamweaver that could cause this.

      Anyone know what could be happening?

          You want to learn MORE on the side of HTML and CSS. Dreamweaver IS a HTML authoring application, while Microsoft Word IS a Word processing application.

            Go to Edit > Preferences, then click "copy/paste" on the left. Tick the fourth radio button down that includes full formatting with styles.

            Keep in mind though that this creates ugly source code. The best practice would be to paste it as "text only" and then apply your formatting via CSS in Dreamweaver. If you're not concerned with what's under the hood of your website, then don't sweat it - paste away and be done with it.

              Here are the fonts you can safely use on the web -

              http://www.ampsoft.net/webdesign-l/WindowsMacFonts.html

              Anything else, and you run the risk of someone not having that font
              installed.

                Thanks JoeyD1978 for the advice.
                I have noticed the ugly source code.

                However these web pages are not anything important.

                Does it take very much longer to design text pages from scratch entirely in Dreamweaver than it does just typing the text and formatting in MS Word and then pasting it into Dreamweaver?

                  How long is a piece of string? The time it take to accomplish something in one application vs another depend entirely on your skill level of each application.

                    Nevertheless, doing it all in DW is exactly the RIGHT way to do it.

                      Hi Murray *ACE*,

                      Thank you for the advice.
                      And also for the link to the fonts page.

                      You are obviously proficient in Dreamweaver. So maybe you can give a view from an expert user as to how much longer it takes in Dreamweaver compared to MS Word to create a page of relatively complex text.

                        It's probably faster in DW for me, since I can create a single CSS rule that
                        affects multiple regions of content on that page. For example -

                        h1 { color:red; font-family:calibri,arial,helvetica,sans-serif;
                        background-color:#223344; color:#998877; }
