Found the answer after searching a little more...
1. In LiveCycle Administration Console, click Services > LiveCycle Process Management ES > Server Settings > Task Notifications.
2. Under Notification Type, click Task Assignment for users or Group - Task Assignment for groups.
I needed to enable notifications to groups.
Wow, that was EASY!
i am using Livecycle 8.1.
I have the same requiremet as Eric. sending task notification to Group.
In administration console I clicked on Services -> Live cycle process management-> server settings-> Email settings -> and in task assignment tab i only see this option -Send an email to the user for new task assignments
This assigns task only when we have the task assigned to speciic user, but not a Group. How can we assign it to a group?
Thanks in advance.
Pelase help me out with this!
You want to go under Home > Services > LiveCycle Process Management ES > Server Settings > Task Notifications.
Thanks for the reply
I don't see task notifications under server settings. Under server setting I see Email settings.
Under email settings I see different tabs like 'stalled operations' 'task notifications' 'task deadline...
Group support must have been added in 8.2.
Now, how should a group get an email? unless someone in the group claims the task they dont get an email :-) but this should not be the desired result. once a task is assgned to a froup they neeed to get a email. Hwo can this be achieved?
One possible solution:
You can use our Group Lookup component to get a comma-separated list of the emails of the members of the group. Then, in the step before the User>assignTask step, send the group an email. The only problem is that you won't be able to embed a link directly to the task, because the task doesn't exist yet.
To work around this problem, you can use the technique outlined here:

You could also get that information from the LC database.
Let me know if you need a query that would return the user's emails for a particular group.
Again this is buit-in in 8.2.
