      Hi,
      while I startup and shutdown Central 5.6, I get the following warnings-
      2008/07/02 12:33:08 c:\adobe\Bin\jfserver.exe: [309]Shutting down client agents.
      2008/07/02 12:33:08 c:\adobe\Bin\jfserver.exe: [312]Warning: skipping disabled task JfShutDn.
      2008/07/02 12:33:08 c:\adobe\Bin\jfserver.exe: [310]Exit.
      2008/07/02 12:33:09 c:\adobe\Bin\jfserver.exe: [300]Startup.

      2008/07/02 12:33:09 c:\adobe\Bin\jfserver.exe: [312]Warning: skipping disabled task JfStartUp.

      While dropping a data file, it does not print and gives follwoing error message
      2008/07/02 12:33:42 c:\adobe\Bin\jfserver.exe: [314]Agent exit message: [313]*** Spawn of agent may have failed ***
      2008/07/02 12:33:42 c:\adobe\Bin\jfserver.exe: [312]Warning: skipping disabled task JfError.

      What is causing to disable all these tasks? Can anyone please help me out here?

      Thanks,

          For the JfShutDn, JfStartUp & JfError messages, that is "normal" because Central comes with no program defined for those tasks. You will continue to get those messages until you define the programs to be ran (or you can edit the jfserver.ini file and change the message display value to -10). The programs we wrote for those tasks either emails us for the shutdown or deletes certain files for the startup. Our error handling program has a bit of logic and deletes certain stuff from the error folder and/or moves the errored DAT file, with changes to the job name to an error queue folder and initiates our retry process; it then emails us.

          The "Spawn of agent may have failed" message occurs when a program, usually a custom agent, terminates abnormally. I'd need to see more log entries regarading the failed agent, preferably with the "verbosity level" set to -10, to even begin to determine what the actual cause might be.

              First, a suggestion...

              I suggest that you change the jfserver.ini file to set the message verbosity level for messages 301 & 306 to 5 and then set the general message level to 5. This will get rid of those pesky "scanning" & "sleeping" entries but still leave a couple handy ones there.

              Now to the problem...

              The "Launching task" entry looks a bit odd - at least compared to mine. All it has is the executable name but it doesn't include the path to the executable. My executable parameter looks like
              >"c:\jetform\central\Bin\jfmerge"

              In my experience this would cause Central to not know where to get it from. This would be indicating a configuration issue within the jfserver.ini file. Maybe your system is different but mine has a bunch of entries in the INI file for every agent that tells Central several things about each, including the location of the executable. I recall a time or two over the years that adding those entries for a new custom agent solved my "spawn failure" error.

              In my file the entries for this agent look like the following:

              [JFMERGE]
              ExePath=c:\jetform\central\Bin
              IniFileName=c:\jetform\central\server1\jfmerge.ini

                Thanks, Tom. You are correct those entries were missing. I do not know why it was like that. I uninstalled Central provided some extra rights to the Jetform installation user, then re-installed Central. [JFMERGE] with ExePAth and IniFileName are there now. The error is gone. It is printing now. Thanks a bunch. You made my day!
