PageMaker files more than a few MB were also troublesome. Also, you may want to take a look at this thread:
PM files above 10MB were living on the edge upto 20 MB and you knew it was going to go bad anytime soon. PM and OSX not a good combo for production work.
Sounds like you've embedded pics in the file another no no.
I can only receive 20 MB files in email so if you can compress it smaller that 20MB you can send it to me and I'll see what I can do.

To add to what other said, one of the best ways to keep the size of
pagemaker files is to link images, and also to resize them in photoshop
so that they place at 100% (at the required dpi).
Pagemaker stores image previews when you import an image. If you shrink
that image down you will have a larger image preview than you really
need. If you go ahead and resize that image in photoshop and re-import
it, it will go along way to keeping the size of your pagemaker file down.
And Save-As instead of Save.
Thank you all for your help. Ive finally realized that PM6 in Classic mode is not compatible with the kind of stuff I do. Its too quirky and page size limitations are too severe. It was great in the good old days but its time has passed.
>It was great in the good old days
Well not really.
You mean Quark was better?
Never used Quark. But I have used PM for probably as long as it has been around (is that 25 years?) I used in Marketing for ads, brochures, flyers, newsletters, etc. I know you pros dont think much of it, but as long as youre not doing this stuff full time it was easy to use, intuitive, and I got good results. So be it!
I was just teasing Buko. When PageMaker appeared, and for several years, there was no program like it. It is now obsolete, but in its time it was the best.
>You mean Quark was better?
Not a chance.
But PM 6 definitely had its problems. It was the only application I ever had to call Tech support for. I believe it was for the newly added make booklet feature.
Each had its strengths and weaknesses, and both worked when you took advantage of what they did well, and minimized what they didn't. Is a flathead screwdriver better than a phillips?
Hi All - had to have my HD wiped w/a clean install of Tiger 4.11... and now i am crying the blues... when i updated Microsoft Office [from a bonefide site], it then kept asking me to "personalize" the program... did not have the key, as i kept evrythng on my hd & the original one crashed about 3 yrs ago [another nitemare! lost abt 15 yrs of my computer life! because i had not backed up the HD]... and it also locked me out of Entourage - w/about a gazillion files and addresses... so, i bought an ex. hd, i backed up EVERYTHING onto my Maxtor ex. HD & when my MacDaddy friend installed Tiger for me... my PageMaker app did not make it... and, even if it HAD the OS 9/Classic app did not, even tho i dragged the APPLICATION floders onto it!!! ... HELP!!! Is there ANY WAY to download OS /Classic - as Tiger does not have it native to the program!!! I HATE WORD and so use PageMaker as much as i can... thus so many of my impt files are PM files...taxes, resumes, etc;, etc. Haven't tried to reinstall PM 6.5 because i think it only runs in the Classic mode.... aaaarrrrggg! In Distress! eugenia
>t then kept asking me to "personalize" the program... did not have the key,
The serial number is on your install CD cover.
Install OS 9 from your OS 9 install disks. the same way you installed OS 9 the first time.
