1. In Document or Page Setup, did you change the resolution to 1200 from the usual default of 300 DPI?
This might be the problem.
2. If you enlarge a photo in PageMaker, that could also impact its quality. Make the photos the size you need in a photo editing app first, then put into PM.
3. If you export to PDF, make sure your DPI setting is at 1200 and not 72.
This is all I've got. Hope one works. Let us know!
I generally make the graphic smaller when I get to PageMaker. I am not exporting to PDF, I just save the Photo as a tiff and then place (command D on Mac)the graphic into PageMaker. I don't think changing the file to 1200 dpi is making a difference, other artwork that I scanned myself is still good. The problem is with graphics that are emailed to me. Most people don't have a clue about resolution so I have to do with what I can, but I have one customer that understands and sent me a clean file.
thanks for your help, maybe someone else will have an idea.
Dale Classic will not run on a Mac Book so neither will Pagemaker
Hi Res graphic problem with 6.5 PM
It is running on my computer a Powerbook. That is what I have. 10.4.10 runs Classic. I may have mistyped.
Under image, you need to send all data.
its probably set to optimized subsampling
Buko, thank you. I am not sure what happened, but I am getting really clear print now. I tried your idea, BTW, that option (Optimized subsampling) is in the print dialog box, took me a while to find that. I made those changes but it did not affect the print quality. With my old Ricoh I would get some type of corrupted file that would force me to re-install PageMaker. It was pretty scary until I figured that out.
For the past year I have kept a an extra copy of my Classic Applications folder on my computer. That way when I get the corruption, all I have to is delete the current Classic Application folder and use the copy of the folder, of course making a copy of that folder first.
Anyway I had to rebuild all of my printing defaults, I must have changed something because now I am getting excellent quality.
Not sure what we did, but you guys helped me get there. I will keep the subsampling idea in mind for future challenges.
glad you got it fixed.
Thanks, I kind of wish I knew what I did so I would know what to do next time. At least I will have some ideas of what to do I guess.
Glad something you did fixed it. What you can do is save that document as your x master, then open it, change text, photos, etc and all is well!
I have the same problem with emailed photos. Clients have no clue what their camera is set to or how to set the export featue to their photo fixing app. They are all different, so it's hard trying to help them with this over the phone, other than to point them to their user manuals! ha!
Glad PageMaker and your Powerbook are clicking.
