    convert text to table

    Level 7
In Dreamweaver, is there an easy way to select text like this:

      A B C
      D E F

and convert it into an HTML table? I've searched for "convert
text to table" and "Dreamweaver" and haven't found anything. I'm
guessing/hoping there's an easy way to do this.

      Thank you,
      Nancy

            Yes, it's quite easy.

There is no automatic feature for converting text to tables. You would need
to place a table on the page first then cut and paste your text into the
              respective table cells.

                Hello,

Copy the text and paste it into a .txt file. Notepad works nicely.
Find and Replace (ctrl + h).
In the dialog box that opens:
"Find what:" Type a space (spacebar once).
                "Replace with:" Enter a comma.
                Click the "Replace All" button.
Save the file and close it.

                In Dreamweaver, open your page.
Place your cursor where you want the table to be.
Go to: File > Import > Tabular Data
In the dialog box that opens, browse to the .txt file.
In the Delimiter dropdown menu, choose comma.
                Click OK.

                That's it.

                Take care,
                Tim

Very clever, Tim. Create a comma delimited text file and import into DW.
Why didn't I think of that?

                      Hi Nancy,

Thanks, I had to do that to a couple hundred pages of numbers once.
Not the most fun I've had building a site, but happy I could share the
                      idea..... :-)

                      Take care,
                      Tim

Or select "other" from dd menu, and type a space in the text box.
