Just give the following link a read. It will be a good beginning for CSS export feature.

2. CS4: CSS export not working for text with image
dv8kiwi Nov 18, 2008 1:02 PM (in response to dv8kiwi)I had read that previously, and it is what he is describing which simply does not work. In his tutorial he has text "Big Heart Corporation" under a slice so that it would render as part of the image generated by that slice. That does not work!. CSS & I Export tries to create CSS text from ANY live text at all in a layout whether contained in a slice or not. When I try to create a small compositional image such as that with text within a slice in my FW layout, and export it, export disables the layout engine and generates the warning. Win XP SP3, FW CS4 10.0.0.495. -
3. Re: CS4: CSS export not working for text with image
dv8kiwi Nov 18, 2008 1:26 PM (in response to dv8kiwi)Further to my previous post, I have tried increasing the margins around the text object in the slice object. If I increase the margin around the text object, to the edges of the slice, to 3 TIMES (!!) the width and height of the text object, then the overlap warning goes away. This is not how I would expect it to work, nor how it is described in Mr Wylie's tutorial. -

A link to your PNG file would be helpful.

Matt Stow just released a new article on devnet and an updated CSS
Export Script. Check it out and see if it resolves your issue. If not,
please post a link to your png.

dv8kiwi Nov 19, 2008 3:47 PM (in response to dv8kiwi)Thanks, I appreciate Matt's work very much, and any developer who works toward improving this very important functionality within Fireworks. Unfortunately it still doesn't work for me. I'm not sure if the issue might be specific to my configuration, or if it might have something to do with the text-engine issue which others are reporting which is also an issue for me. The text has had horizontal scaling applied, so perhaps even though the text box looks to be completely contained in the boundaries of the slice, perhaps somehow export is seeing it as extending beyond the boundaries and reporting it as "overlapping". Anyway, an offending png is here:

I'm pretty sure it has to do with the horizontal scaling of the text.
Have you tried converting the text to paths then trying the export? I
don't have your fonts, so I can't test it out this way.

Yep, it's the horizontal scaling. I tried to replicate the issue with
Arial black. I only needed about 150% scaling to make things look
similar and got the same result as you did. I converted the text to
paths and the export worked as expected the first time. I know this
isn't probably the answer you wanted, but at least we know what the
issue is.
As a workaround, create a clone of the text, hide one of them and
convert the other to a path for exporting. That way, you at least have
an editable copy if you need to make design changes.

11. Re: CS4: CSS export not working for text with image
dv8kiwi Nov 20, 2008 8:30 PM (in response to dv8kiwi)Thanks Jim - did you try it yourself? You could easily just substitute the Futura Cond with anything else and seed if the scaling creates the same problem for you. It works OK converted to outlines. But I want to keep the text editable- ie have it do what it is claimed to be able to do. -

I can't speak for Adobe, but I know the FW engineers want to produce a
quality product. The best way, though to have official user input is to
fill out the bug report/wishlist on adobe.com.
