1. Re: LR 1.3 import speed
Lee Jay-7OQGJF Feb 4, 2008 12:38 PM (in response to hrh gracie)Imports themselves should be pretty fast. Rendering the previews is what takes a long time. If you import with it set to standard or 1:1, it'll take a while to render all those previews. If you set it to minimal (IIRC), the import will be fast, but you won't have previews. -
2. Re: LR 1.3 import speed
hrh gracie Feb 4, 2008 1:47 PM (in response to hrh gracie)Since LR is STILL churning I can't look at the preferences, but I thought there was something that told it to just use whatever was in the imported image? If so, shouldn't this get rid of this insanely long process of rendering? Or is this just one of those things I'll have to start when I go to bed and hope its managed to do a few thousand images by morning?...
Are ALL these tools this poor performing? I haven't tried this in iView or one of the others, but if they're significantly faster I can see dumping LR back on the shelf until something gets done to improve this. -
3. Re: LR 1.3 import speed
Lee Jay-7OQGJF Feb 4, 2008 2:20 PM (in response to hrh gracie)The import is controlled on the import screen. You had the option to alter it at that point. It's not on a preference screen somewhere.
Edit: Importing a single image from my Canon 5D and rendering its standard preview takes around 3 seconds on my older machine. The 10 seconds I had before was for 1:1 previews. Sorry about that.
