2. Re: Identity Plate Question
(P._I._Rose) Apr 3, 2008 5:48 AM (in response to DearlG)I'm not a newbie--been using LR steadily since the first public beta--but I also need to see an answer to this question. I had not previously had a need to create "new" catalogs until yesterday, when I began testing the new 2.0 beta. Now (in 2.0b) I can't figure out how to get use of my previous collection of custom identity plates.

John O Connor Apr 3, 2008 6:16 AM (in response to DearlG)Identity Plates are stored in the catalog. (I do not know though if that is still true for 2.0beta) -
4. Re: Identity Plate Question
(P._I._Rose) Apr 3, 2008 6:38 AM (in response to DearlG)Thanks, John. Just before seeing your reply, I spotted that info in a forum search along with a suggested workaround: that old id plates would be available in new catalogs made by exporting an older (empty) catalog (i.e., not actually creating a "new" one). I suspect that might not work in going from from 1.3.1 to the 2.0b.

5. Re: Identity Plate Question
DearlG Apr 3, 2008 7:05 AM (in response to DearlG)After (RE)searching a bit more yesterday, I came across a workaround in the NAPP forums. It was suggested there to create a "catalog template" where you create your ID plates. When you need a new catalog, simply copy the "template" catalog and rename appropriately. I experimented with this and it seems to be a good option.
I guess a still open question for me would be this...Say I've created my ID plates in a template catalog, then copied that one to other catalogs (portraits, landscapes, family, etc) then decide/discover that I need yet another ID plate. Question is...If I add another one to the template, can it then be used to replace one or all the other existing catalogs (portraits, landscapes, family, etc)?
Wonder why the ID plates can't be created and made available across the board...like a preset?
