I think Flex 3 Training From the Source is a great way to learn Flex. I
still refer to my copy of the Flex 2 version of that book, a year later.

The best way to learn Flex is to:
1. Go through this FlexBuilder 3 help system topic and all sub-topics, compiling all sample programs, and playing around with them a bit if you have lots of time:

2. Start creating sample apps.
