A more simple version of my problem: The photos are on my computer, but I cannot open them with PS-Album Starter Edition 3.2, which I could for the last years now.
I am having the same problem today. I went to add a pic that I took yesterday to an email, it kept saying "searching for missing files". When I click cancel, it says that there must be at least one file connected. I too can see all my pic, but I just can't do anything with it. I sure hope someone can help....these are the Christmas pics of my kids. Thanks!
Dear Laura, I just solved -my- problem, and I hope this will help you too:
A few days ago I transferred the complete "Pictures" file to the desk top for better accessibility. This file was then not listed in the box any more that appears when you click "Search" so maybe you also changed the path to the photo file and can restore it that way.
Good luck, and a Happy New Year!
P.S.: What an interesting name -Jacobus!
To add more to this, the photos are shown as missing or with broken red icon in the catalog when the files/folder have been renamed on the hard disc, the folder/files have been moved or the files have been deleted from the hard disc. Incase the files have not been deleted from the hard disc they can be reconnected using the File->Reconnect All Missing Files option.
Hope this helps.
Help! I cannot fix this. photos are also shown missing with the broken red icon at bottom of pics, and the photo is distorted. The "reconnect all missing files option" does not work. I have not deleted my pics either. Please help!
Have you done a search with Start, Windows, Search. If not, try that...
if you STILL can't find them, I would suggest trying a little
application called Recuva. It is free and it saved many images for me
that I thought were long gone. There might be other apps that do that
same, but this is small, free, fast... and simple to use.
