Are you talking about creating PDF slideshows?
As such, we cannot use the caption in a slideshow in Album Starter Edition, but it can be done in Photoshop Elements. But the filename cannot be set as caption automatically in both the products.
I have used tags to organize my photos, but it seems this will be lost if I ever move to another program (e.g. Picaca - though Adobe was able to import one Picasa tag). My questions:
1. How can I permanently associate tag-type info with my photos?
2. Can I use a simple or batch method to use my filenames (which have a lot of info) as captions?
1) PSA SE has no facility to help with this. Paid for versions [in particular PSE 3/4] can do this.
2) PSA SE cannot do this. I do not know of any software that can, but it would not be too hard to program, so some investigation would be worthwhile - someone must have done that.
Thanks. I won't waste more time in PSA SE looking for this. I note however that captions I create in PSA aren't seen by Picasa, and vice versa. So perhaps captions are not included in the file info the way I thought they were.

PSA normally keeps the captions in both its catalog and the metadata of the image file. There are various ways that th elatter can be done by different programs - the whole metadata thing is a mess. I have no idea what Picassa does.
