if I understand correctly what you want ...if you right mouse click on the the icon (shortcut) of the program you want to be the default and tell it in the drop down box you want that program to be the default .
Photoshop Album Starter Edition downloads Video and Audio files as well as pictures from the camera. In the Adobe Photo Downloader window, your need to click the Video files button on the top to be able to see the Video files.
I have been able to download my avi, mov, and mpeg files using this.
What if there is no icon - I always used the Windows Picture & Fax Viewer - that's the program I thought was opening my photos because thats where all my photos are, but I don't see an icon to right click on to restore it as my default as opposed to Adobe's program
I downloaded the upgrade to version 7, and now Wwindows Picture and Fax Viewer can no longer be found on my computer. This is an unwanted feature, How can I recapture the missing viewer?
Jack Knight - I have tried to complete what you have said.. .no luck in turning off PhotoAlbum starter edition... I need to use the Canon software - Anyone have any ideas?
I had the same problem. Thought I would post a link on how to fix the default viewers. What a pain! I can't believe no one posted this fix.
This site tells you how to change it back (and for all other programs that highjack default programs. Hope it helps!
for those who don't want to click on a link...
Go to control panel, click on folder options, go to tab for file types, highlight file type, in "opens with" choose view, click apply.
Here is the link for better directions...
I need help too!
Adobe PhotShop Starter Edition has "taken over" my ability to view pics with Windows Picture Viewr. HOW can I reset Windows as my default viewer?
Exactly what info do you want that is not contained in post #6?
The easiest way is to simply go into Windows Explorer, right click on an
image that want to open with Windows Picture Viewer by default and click
Open With... you will then be presented with a choice of applications.
Choose Windows Picture Viewer. To ensure that this is the default, check of
the check box that asks if you want this to happen everytime.
Sorry Colin... looks like we answer this about the same time.
My problem is that when I plug in my thumbdrive to download photos to my hard drive, Photoshop automatically kicks in and wants to be the default downloading engine! To add insult to injury, once the photos are downloaded, the damn program deletes the images from my thumbdrive!
I want to use another program to download my images to my hard drive, whether from a thumbdrive or an SD memory chip, and when I want it to, not automatically (like ITunes will do once you plug in an IPod to the USB port).
Could you please repost this as a new post... it's really a new topic.
