In Windows Explorer, locate an audio file and right click on it. Choose Open With and select the program you wish to use and check the box "alwyas use".
Alternatively, many music playing programs [like iTunes] have an option to be the default player. Just start the program and select that option.
Thanks Colin I've done what you said and seleceted all music files to open with Windows media player & checked the box "always use" but photoshop still opens the file even though it isn't even in the programme selection???
Youmean that you have successfully associated a, say, MP3 file, with WMP and it shows the correct icon, but double-clicking on it opens PSA SE?
Yes, all the music icons display the WMP icon but when I left click to play them Photosuite opens and tries to open the music file as a picture. All I need to do is disassociate Photosuite from the music files but I don't know how do do it.
Th eonly ways to disassociate a file type from a program are to uninstall the program or associate with some other program. You have done the latter; guess you need to try the former.
Hi, would it not better to associate files with programs via the FOLDER OPTIONS in the control panel?
To do this, go to CONTROL PANEL, select FOLDER OPTIONS and then select the FILE TYPES tab.
On the left under the extentions column are the file types in alphbetical order and in the right column is the currently selected program/application that will run/show or play this type of file.
Select the appropriate extention and the press the CHANGE button, where upon another window will open with a selection of programs/applications displayed. Just select the approriate program/application and then OK it.
You mention a WMP file? this extention does not exist in my file types, although WMF's do and this is an image file, the more common music extention files are WA (Windows Audio) WMA (Windows Media Audio) WAV (Wave sound files)and MP3.
Common image files tend to be JP, JPEG & GIF.
I hope this helps,
has anyone figured out how to fix this problem because the same thing happened to me?
