UNWANTED PORN ON EMAIL ATTACHMENT SLIDESHOW

WHEN I EMAIL PICTURES, (MY WIFE IS A REALTOR), AND DOUBLE CLICK ON AN ATTACHMENT, AND GO TO SLIDESHOW, THE FIRST PICTURE WILL BE WHAT IT SHOULD BE (PICTURES OF HOMES AND CONDOS), BUT THEN IT GOES TO PICTURES OF PORN. WE CAN NOT HAVE THAT, HOW DID THE PICTURES BECOME PART OF THE SLIDESHOW? HOW CAN I GET RID OF IT? (I DELETED THE PHOTOSHOP STARTER EDITION AND REDOWNLOADED, SAME PROBLEM)
HELP! CAN NOT GET A REAL PERSON TO HELP ME AS THEY SAY THIS VERSION IS SO OLD THAT THERE IS NO LONGER LIVE HELP!!

First off, please don't write in upper case - it is hard to read and is normally interpreted as shouting.

Obvious question: is this porn picture in your catalog? What pictures do you see when you start PSA SE?

Sorry, didn't mean to shout. No the pictures are not in my catalog, but my son......I do not know. They are not all porn, and some of the images I recognize. We had a flat bead scanner, and it looks like some things, cd jackets, ads and such could have been copied. Thanks for helping.

Are you emailing from PSA SE? If so, there is something odd, as it can only send pictures that are in the catalog.

Sorry, I do not know what PSA SE is.

PSA SE = Photoshop Album Starter Edition - the software you are using?

Yes, I am using Photoshop Album Starter Edition 3.0

I have a simular problem in that when I open an attachment in Word that is .jpg, I get that item + all kinds of photos that I don't want on the system.

I deleted them one at a time, but next time I turned on the p/c, they were back.

                      Thanks for any help.

I have been lucky. As of yet, anyone I forwarded the photo's to, did not have my problem.

Sorry...I'm laughing. I wanted to come on and ask a similar question: Why does Photoshop save pictures from all the catalogs and google searches I do? Isn't that a feature that should NOT be a default??? As this poor user before indicated, this can be downright embarrissing. (I've seen swimwear and langerie pictures come through that I did not want on my files!)

Please, please...tell us how to avoid this problem.

                            Hi Karen,

Wow... this is new to me. I'll forward this on to Adobe.

                            Cheers

I am having the same problem as Karen, George, and Barry. Please tell me how to delete all of these pictures. It does not give any delete options. I am not sure if anyone I email a picture to gets my entire slide show or not. If they do...not good! Help, thanks.

When you send a slideshow, they get a pdf version of all the slides
included. Essentially this means it combines the image files into one pdf
file. Kind of like taking picture frames and making a film.

                                Cheers

I too am not clear as to how to avoid these types of problems. Are you a moderator for Adobe? Have you heard back from them on this situation? If not, do you know how we can contact someone?

I emailed a picture as an attachment using Photoshop Starter Edtion and the recipient received the picture plus many images of very dubious quality. What has happened here? How have these images piggy backed their way on to my attachment? Will the recipient, who deleted the images keep receiving these images every time he starts up his email, as suggested in previous postings on here? What can be done to correct this and how do I contact Adobe about this?

To Jim, Van, Barry and anyone else on this forum subscription list. It appears that some of you have replied to my post but I still can't find your answers, only your original post describing the same problem we've all had. It's most frustrating that Adobe would set up a forum like this and not have the exchange of information be a little more clear and informative, including answers. It's like a continuous loop that has no end.

FYI, I found a way to DELETE these unwanted photos. There were some 70-80 of them...mostly undesirable. And after deleting them they didn't come back using the same sequence we'va all used to print an attached jpeg for instance.

What I finally did was to go through the same sequence:
                                            1) Click on an attached jpeg in an email
                                            2) Have that jepg default to Adobe as the viewer (that's a sore subject for another discussion)
                                            3) Click on the Printer icon at the bottom of the viewer. This is the point at which I saw all the unwanted photos. As I recall, the only photo checked for printing was the one I wanted but at this point you'll notice there are backward and forward arrow buttons that will bring up the unwanted photos. There's also a Trash cannister icon.
                                            4) Manually click this Trash cannister icon for each of the unwanted photos. They will show up in your recycle bin and you can finally delete them once and for all.
                                            5) Close the email with the attachment, re-open it, go through the same sequence to print and you'll see the unwanted images are gone.

Adobe is not making any friends here, I can tell you that. After this forum has had a few more posts and I know that at least some of you have read this reply I, for one, will Uninstall Adobe Photoshop and never use it again. I have 2 other photo programs that work and I honestly never thought Starter Edition was all that good anyway. It seems to be a platform for Adobe to get subscribers to buy up to a more functional product. If anyone wants to correspond with me about this (OFF the Adobe forum) please email me at eimcnews@cox.net. From there we can exchange further contact information such as phone numbers, Skype names etc. if you want more information.

Just pay attention to the different pathways.

Roger, next time I have the e-mail attachment come through, I'll try that. I'm pretty preturbed about this myself. Just deleting Adobe may be the only safe option.

Jim, just where do you go for this "patch", and will it indeed fix this problem?

                                                  Karen and all,

The Photoshop CS3 patch sounds like a ruse. I searched for the patch at the support site, found the instructions to use it and I'm now more than wary of anything they propose. It's more than complicated and Jim appears to me to be a schill. It all seems to be self-serving on their part. The Photoshop product is not that good anyway. It's an inducement to sell an upgrade. I'm uninstalling Photoshop the next chance I get and, except for Adobe Acrobat Reader, I will not consider using any of their products again.
                                                  • 22. Re: UNWANTED PORN ON EMAIL ATTACHMENT SLIDESHOW

Awww, schill is harsh. (what is that anyway?)

I think Jim is trying to help, but I have a notion that the best bet is to just forget it and delete Adobe Photoshop until they can tell us the 'bug' is cleared up.

                                                      Karen,

Sorry I meant to write shill. It's a person who publicizes or praises something or someone for reasons of self-interest, personal profit, friendship or loyalty. I read some of Jim's previous posts. He claims not to work for Adobe. I don't believe it. The CS3 "patch" is a joke. Have you read it?

The obvious and most useful suggestion would have been to state what the real problem was and how to fix it using Abode Photoshop. Why can't Adobe step up and help those who have been plagued by this serious flaw? Hidden photos that you can't immediately find or access? Not good!

Thanks anyway for the chat. I hope you were able to fix it on your end. For me, Adobe Photoshop is history.

Well, I looked over the free downloads....Photoshop CS3 extended is only free for 30 days. Then you have to purchase it. On top of that, I see it only extends your usage to other types of media. It says nothing of the 'slideshow' fix or options. So, guess what. I'm done.

Jim, sorry. Wish you could have helped. I'm doubtful that it's fixable.

                                                              Hi Karen and Roger,

Thanks for all your attention, nevertheless.

Thansk for all your input. Whatever it is, it's serious. Serious enough that others have experienced similar or exactly the same problem. I actually saw it several months ago when an acquaintence emailed some photos, perhaps[not intentionally) in what I assumed was a slideshow. A significant number of unwanted photos hiked along for the ride in this email. Before I could email the guy someone else on his list informed him. Never thought about it again until it happened to me. Luckily I found a way to get rid of them. Adobe PSE is now history for me. I'm going to monitor this forum for a few more days, mostly out of curiosity to see if Adobe steps up and acknowledges the problem and whether they offer any useful information to others plagued by it.

I'm incredulous that you suggest they don't read this forum or know that their product is doing this. It's like suggesting that the football player who had numerous dogs on his property and regular dog fights for over 3 years didn't know what was going on.

This is their forum headlined with their logo, reachable through their Customer Support link and/or their website. Do you really think they don't know? When you scroll the customer support product list you see numerous products. Frankly I didn't think they had anywhere near that many products. Some Product Manager/Marketing genius should lose his job over this one. And you know what? Except for the default Acrobat reader I'll never use a single one of their products again.

whelp...my elderly mother and father have experienced the same problem...My mother had undesirable hitchhikers on an email to her church group of all things and the minister contacted her to let her know what had happened. I got this desperate call from her in tears urging me to come over and help her asap. I did do the delete trash can thingy from print/slideshow which took care of the existing batch of dubious pics but new and different pics were hitchhiking when next I opened the original scanned image (which was a newspaper article about my mother's elderly ladies church book club btw *shakes head..tooo much*)...the pics btw are no where on the harddrive but seem to be mostly odds and end's some of which are "lascivious" as my mother put it, and were others logos, ads, clip art, etc...

So I finally after hours of diagnostics etc. spoke with a few very capable IT friends (have to admit there were some chuckles since it was the elderly ladies such an unlikely companion to such images) and we traced the issue to adobe album ps 3.2 edition. So I've uninstalled the software and the problem is now solved. We will be using other pic veiw software from now on. Not good Adobe, even if it is a virus or some such - even if it means someone in the house viewed some "lascivious" pics online, it is still a scurilous issue and an invasion of privacy to dsay the least, that you should be fixing and should be apologetic for...and come on..business is all about selling a product for them...this is not free software..it is the hook to get us to buy other software etc...duh.

And another thing...I see numerous other posts refering to this issue...clearly not just a handful of folks are subjected to this issue. Yall maynot be employees etc...but this is what comes up as the only way to get help of answers on this issue so there you have it...If Adobe can't pick up how to improve the product from this forum where the hell are they going to learn that they've got a major flaw in a "gift" product. No thanks on the gift...might as well have been "gifted" with a virus. Annnndd - I work in the feild of arch and engineering...I am certainly going to block and not advise any of the businesses I work with in using photo album products of any type.
