The term for this facility is Watched Folders. I cannot remember whether the PSA SE version has this or not, but this is what you should look for.
Personally, I think that running a program all the time [using CPU resources all the time] just in case you add some images is madness - just to save you a couple of mouse clicks.
Thanks for the response! I don't see any settings for "Watched Folders" in the version I'm using; is it available in a previous version??
It is available in the paid-for versions of the program. [Photoshop Elements]
In Starter Edition, it's called Favorite Folder.
Go to Edit > Preferences, and then click on Favorite Folder.
Browse top the location that you want Starter Edition to watch for new stuff.
Be sure to set the Alert Option check box so it will tell you when something new shows up.
