Click on one of the troublesome images and open the Properties Pane. What pathname do you see?
I have the same problem, I have searched for these missing files with no success. have you overcome the problem? If so how
Please describe exactly what you experienced and comment on my advice in post #1.
followed your advice in post#1 Here is what i see
File name Original Location
Bergen14.jpg (typical) C\docs & Settings\images\kodak pics\cruise 2003
The message i get is :- Source files cannot be found at the locations stored in the catalogue, they may have been moved or renamed Please reconnect these cat items to their source files
There lies my problem, how do I find files and reconnect to cat items?
I have tried the search facility in Adobe with no success
The real question is: have you moved or deleted any images files? [because something has]
I have the same problem as Kenneth Tucker, but can't follow through from the posted messages any resolution. All my photos have been downloaded from a camera and sorted into 'collections'. I wanted to transfer them to a stick to print elsewhere but all files seem to be missing!
Any suggestions or help?
Are they missing from the HDD as well? Or from what appears to be PSASE?
Did anyone find a fix for missing files? I got a new laptop due to eletrical failure of the first one that shouldn't have affected the hard drive. When I received the new laptop, I scanned in some images and also transferred pictures from my camera. After those scans and transfers, my computer tech transferred my photos from my prior hard drive to my new laptop. Now, when I pull up the scanned images that I put on the new laptop prior to the old photos being transferred, I see an icon in Photoshop of the scanned image but when I double-click, I see the new scan with one of my prior scans superimposed on it. Worse, when I pull up the photos transferred to the new laptop prior to the old photos being transferred, I see the icon of the photo but when I double click I get the missing files message. The computer tech has performed a recovery function but no luck. I am now going through each one of the 20,000 photos on the computer to see if somehow in the transfer the photo was re-named. Surely there must be a faster way, and I am not very confident this is going to work. Any ideas?
Did the PSA SE catalog get transferred from the old hard drive? The images alone are not enough.
Don't know. But the problems are not with the photos that were transferred from the old hard drive. It is on the new photos and scans that I put on the new computer before the old hard drive was transferred. I have actually located some of the missing files which were still of the same name but located in a different folder.
Hi I am having the same problem with the adobe photoshop starter edition in reference to missing files. The pictures are in the catalog and I can organize them etc. but can not copy them to disc as I also get the missing file message. I just followed the steps you outlined for us to use to no avail. My next question is would it do any good to do a system restore on the computer to get the missing files back and connect them with the catalog? To my knowledge I have not deleted them from the hardrive.
I think what Colin might be getting at is that your computer is looking at
an older version of the catalogue. It is an odd thing that it is not
updating itself, but certainly possible.
Have your tried the reset key sequence in PSASE that we use in PSE 5.0?
Has a fix been discovered on how to recover the "missing files"? The only deleting that I did was from my camera once the pics were down loaded? Is it possible that it was viewing the camera as a secondary storing device?

If you did Get Pictures from Files and Folders instead of Get Pictures from Camera or Card Reader, that is what would happen.
