Just to add to the above - I am in England and time is 2351 Sunday 9 Sep. This forum seems to run on Pacific time.
I also encountered the same problem but it happens with one particular camera and the photo downloader works fine otherwise. This camera has some corrupt files which cause the photo down loader to hang.If I delete these files and try again,it works fine. You may check for these and see if this problem is actually device specific.
No body else with any siggestions??
Have uninstalled and reloade P.A.S.E. 3.2. first time I put a Blank card in the computer reader all went well and it showed up in photo downloadeer. So put one from camera with photoes on and it went back to freezing with "loading device list please wait". Anybody any ideas where to start looking for the problem?
The good news is... I'm in Germany. We're almost on the same time
zone... the other good news is... I'm Canadian... so no issues with
Now... to be a little more serious. First... can your computer read the
card that you had the images on? Let's start there.
Yes..no problem with Dell Dimension 5150 reading the Smart Media memory disk using a windows programme and the card slots on the computer. The "loading device list please wait" window appears after pressing the get photoes button and selecting 'camera, mobile phone or card reader'...it also happens when I select 'scanner' (have a Dell photo all-in-one 924 scanner/copier/printer).
Bad news sort of... I cannot duplicate the issue with my Epson scanner
or my Canon camera. I'm using a Canon and a Sandisk SD card with memory.
I still have to check compatibility... but I have also used this program
at home with a Dell all-in-one... so I don't think we will find anything
I wonder, did you install it while an Antivirus program was running...
or another type of utility. Sometimes this can be an issue.
My bigger concern is that it is not working with the Dell all-in-one.
That tells me that there is something different from our systems that is
likely to affect anything I try here.
Can you think of anything you might have different related to utilities?
I use Live OneCare for the AV program... and that doesn't seem to harm
anything, but I know Norton and AVG for example have been known to
affect SOME systems. I took both off of my computer for these reasons
myself... Other people likely use it without issue.
I have Norton. The Adobe prog was all working for over a year (with Norton). Can't remember if all started to go wrong because I updated from perhaps an earlier version (3.0 to 3.2?) or if it happened when I recently had one of these persistant 'you have a virus' pop up 'buy our cure' advertisers that took a lot of getting rid of.
Will try reinstalling again with AVG off.
Adobe photodelux home edition 4.0 also stops now after its home page appears and it is still initializing. Have tryed reinstalling this from the CD that came with the Fujifilm camera. Perhaps the two faults are related.
I had similar experience with both products. They worked for the longest
time and then all of the sudden, they went loopy. I've had much better
experience with MS Live OneCare and frankly, I am not an MS fan... but
if something works for me. I use it.
Before you use AVG, have a look at OneCare, it has a 90 trial and it
also maintains your HDD. Can't hurt.
Forgot the mention, it took prying into the registry to get rid of all
the Symantec/Norton hooks. It was as if it was the very virus/spyware it
purported to protect me from... Go figure.
Jim, Woops..missleading you there with AVG....I do not have AVG...I thought it was the antivirus part of Norton. I have Norton Internet security and Norton antivirus as part of Norton Security. Not got the time just at the moment to experiment with reinstalling the two progs and testing.
I defected to the "darkside". I'm not normally a fan of Microsoft, but
after terrible experiences with Norton products... I just won't use
them. My biggest issues were with Internet Security. It just bogged my
system so much, it became unusable... then the Anti-virus started doing
wierd things... It has affected family members... I finally threw in the
Good luck though.
I am having the identical problem described by Dennis some time ago, and see no clear solution offered here. I am using a HP PSC 1610 All-in-One and also get the "loading device list please wait" message.
Previously I had been receiving the HP download picture box, which would be preempted by the Adobe downloader and I could move on. Now, things just lock up.
Any solutions for a non techie?
