Window > Align Panel menu command.
With this Panel, select your multiple objects, then apply the appropriate Align and Distribute options.
Can you select multiple objects and specify a distance between them/ make them touch?
I know how to space things equally (either horizontally or vertically), but i dont know how to specify what that spacing is.
I thought of another way that might work, can you make objects touch, and continue to touch even if their size changes? If so then I could save the thumbnail image place holder as a graphic, including a transparent 'margin' rectangle around it, and change its size from the library.
I am not sure what it is your trying to do? You want spacing, but you want them to touch?
Auto Spacing/numerically is available in CS4 Align Panel but now in CS3.
A few things you can do.
- View > Grid> Edit Grid. Show Grid/Snap to Grid and set the w/h to that of your thumbnails.
Then positon your Thumbs/placeholders within the grid - they should snap and 'touch' each other.
Yes you can convert your Thumb/Placeholder to Symbol Graphic, duplicate the symbol instance, double click anyone of the sybol instance to edit it, then Modify > Trasform > Numeric Transform to the new size. Then Done.
The only drwaback there is, you will have to realign again.
'I am not sure what it is your trying to do? You want spacing, but you want them to touch?'
-I ideally want spacing between the images, but the other option would be for me to make a place holder that included the image and the spacing, then lining up these up so the spacing touches.
When you say;
'Auto Spacing/numerically is available in CS4 Align Panel but now in CS3.'
Im guessing you mean 'not in CS3.' ?
I guess CS3 cant do what I want. Thanks anyway.
Yes, sorry, I meant 'not'.
So there's nothing in the align panel in CS3 where you can make objects touch? I think you said there isnt but I just want to make sure.
Did you try the 'Grid' option I mention above.
Yeah. Its useful thanks but i guess i really need to get CS4!
