    Moving Files to another Site

    Level 7
With Dreamweaver MX 2004, is there a way to move a folder from one local
site to another local site. I know I can go to the Explorer and do a copy.
It seems that would be safer if I used Dreamweaver to do the folder move.

      Thank you..

          What does the folder contain?
          Images?
          Or html files?

If html files, there's no way to move them within dreamweaver from one site
          def to a different site.

Do it on the hard drive.

Then if html files- check for broken links.
Reasons for broken links- there may be site root relative paths used.
There may be links to things in other folders of the original site that
don't exist in the current site.

Okay.. Thanks. They are HTML files and support files. The broken link
problem was why I want to use Dreamweaver. It could help me spot the broken
            links.

            Thanks again...

And it will help you check for broken paths, when you run a link check in
dreamweaver after you move them manually on the hard drive.

The only way to put files someplace else with dreamweaver would be to do a
"save as" to a new location. But if you save an html file to outside of the
current site folder, dw will change all relative paths in the file to
absolute hard drive paths. You don't want dreamweaver to do this. So Move
The Folder By Hand to the other site folder. Then run a link check sitewide
in the other site defintion to find anything missing or broken.
