(Martin_Kula) May 29, 2008 4:20 AM (in response to Welles Goodrich)Actually it still doesn't resolve the Spaces problem where after switching to another space and going back to photoshop some of the tool start blinking between the selected tool or ther arrow..for example the marquee tool.... ok there is one little improvement it doesnt occure after one space switch or two but after a couple of them and the problem is back and only restarting photoshop helps :/ -
3. Re: 10.5.3 Seems to have solved Photoshop CS3/Spaces problem
Welles Goodrich May 29, 2008 5:20 AM (in response to Welles Goodrich)Hi Martin,
Thanks for the report. I've never experienced the blinking cursor error though some number of users have. I wonder. If you hit the tab key twice does the blinking cursor problem stop? -
4. Re: 10.5.3 Seems to have solved Photoshop CS3/Spaces problem
(Martin_Kula) May 29, 2008 5:33 AM (in response to Welles Goodrich)unfortunately this doesn't help... :/ only restarting photoshop helps... and this freaks my cause I loose history stages because of that :/ -

7. Re: 10.5.3 Seems to have solved Photoshop CS3/Spaces problem
(NA_Goodman) Jun 3, 2008 4:29 PM (in response to Welles Goodrich)I just started using Spaces and am also plagued by the blinking cursor. I did install the 10.5.3 update which resolved a number of sleep issues on my mac pro. Other than the blinking cursor things are humming along. -
8. Re: 10.5.3 Seems to have solved Photoshop CS3/Spaces problem
Welles Goodrich Jun 3, 2008 6:49 PM (in response to Welles Goodrich)Hi NA,
The blinking cursor seems to be a different bug than the one which was affecting me... the redraw of palettes, options bar and tool bar. Fortunately I've not had that one which seems to only be solved by restarting Photoshop. I've not read of anyone finding a complete solution for that bug except not using Spaces. -
9. Re: 10.5.3 Seems to have solved Photoshop CS3/Spaces problem
(Steven_Bester) Jun 6, 2008 1:51 AM (in response to Welles Goodrich)Hi all,
I have also had the dreaded 'blinking cursor' which flashes 2 tools at once. I'm running CS3, and OSX 10.5.3, and have spaces enabled.
Like already mentioned before, only restarting PS helps. I've tried trashing the relevant prefs. That did seem to help for an hour or two (so I don't think it really helped) but then it came back.
When the problem occurs, selecting and using a tool becomes impossible.
Has anyone had any success in sorting this problem out?
Any suggestions would be helpful. Thanks

10. Re: 10.5.3 Seems to have solved Photoshop CS3/Spaces problem
(Mike_Mauro) Jun 19, 2008 4:26 PM (in response to Welles Goodrich)Hi Everyone!
I too have this bug on my Mac Pro at work and my iMac at home. I use Spaces religiously so this bug is extremely annoying.
I went ahead and reported this bug to Adobe. I suggest that everyone else do the same.
I haven't been able to fix the blinking cursor without restarting Photoshop but here are some ways to avoid it:
1. Switch spaces using CTRL + Arrow Keys / Number of Space instead viewing all of the spaces in a grid.
2. If you are like me and prefer the grid you can avoid the blinking cursor by making sure the Type tool or Marquee tool is NOT selected in Photoshop before you switch Spaces. If you have another tool such as the Move tool selected when you switch Spaces you will not get the blinking cursor when you switch to the Type or Marquee tools after returning from another Space.
Let's hope Adobe gets this fixed ASAP.

Buko. Jun 19, 2008 10:34 PM (in response to Welles Goodrich)>but here are some ways to avoid it:
you seem to have forgotten "don't install Leopard" for those lucky enough to own a Mac that can run Tiger. -
12. Re: 10.5.3 Seems to have solved Photoshop CS3/Spaces problem
Nini Tjäder Jun 19, 2008 11:49 PM (in response to Welles Goodrich)Mike - it is not a bug, it is as designed. Adobe CS3 apps were out long before Leopard and do not support Spaces. Just live with it.
Buko - you are like a broken record about Leopard. Those comments adds nothing of value. -
13. Re: 10.5.3 Seems to have solved Photoshop CS3/Spaces problem
Buko. Jun 20, 2008 5:53 AM (in response to Welles Goodrich)Why thank you.
I met a fellow the other day that was having trouble seeing and hearing. I suggested that he stop stabbing himself in the eyes and ears with his sharp stick. He said "No" that it was not a problem and his seeing and hearing problems had nothing to do with his sharp stick. -

(dwalks) Jul 1, 2008 11:37 AM (in response to Welles Goodrich)well put Buko.
nini, not a bug, ok... i'm sure all the other problems that have developed since cs2 are designed as well.
talking about adding no value to this thread... -
15. Re: 10.5.3 Seems to have solved Photoshop CS3/Spaces problem
(Mike_Mauro) Jul 1, 2008 11:08 PM (in response to Welles Goodrich)I installed 10.5.4 yesterday and the Spaces bugs with Photoshop CS3 are fixed! I encourage every Leopard user to download it ASAP.

17. Re: 10.5.3 Seems to have solved Photoshop CS3/Spaces problem
Welles Goodrich Jul 14, 2008 10:59 AM (in response to Welles Goodrich)Taylor,
You aren't speaking to Adobe here, just users. I suspect that Adobe and Apple are both aware of the problem with Spaces and Adobe products. It seemed to be gone on my computer with 10.5.3 and yet a different but similar issue popped up with 10.5.4. My solution is to hit the Tab key twice... bap bap and everything is 'normal.'
As an editorial aside, generally on this forum we have been assigning more 'blame' for these issues to Apple but to be fair I also use another dozen professional apps as complex as Photoshop. None of them have spaces problems so I'm not sure Adobe couldn't deal with it. However I'd be surprised if they released an update to CS3 as the engineers are too busy working on the next version of Photoshop.
