My camcorder has a setting where you can choose to shoot in conventional 4:3 or widescreen 16:9. I shot my footage in 16:9. Now I'm trying to edit it with Premiere. Under the settings when I created the project, I chose 16:9 (and I went back to double check and it is in fact set to that.)

My question is, how do I get the source and program monitors to understand I'm trying to work in 16:9? Right now they display in 4:3, which badly distorts the picture, plus makes it hard to know what will and won't be on the screen if I eventually successfully output it in 16:9. I see where to change the magnification, but that keeps the (incorrect) proportions the same and just changes the size.
