    Can't import full video

    Level 1
I am trying to import some videos in premiere and it won't work fully. I import the videos but then I find that it only imports a small part of it. I have tried to import in After Effects to see if it would import fully there but it came up with the message "After Effects error: Error (4) reading frame from file "C:\documents and settings\James\My Documents\ORP raw\'08_01_27_00\08012701.avi". (86 :: 2) However, it still lets me import, but it does the same thing as premiere and doesn't import the whole video.
I tried converting to a different format but it made the audio unsync.
I was hoping someone could tell what the problem is or what I need to do.

          Convert to DV AVI type2.

            Hi Jim/Harm

We had the output form a Morae session sent to us and are looking to Add credits etc in Adobe Premiere, but having the same issue with the file being imported only showing as 43 seconds when the actual video length is 15 mins and is an avi file:

Uses their specific codec which may be half the problem?

We are using Premiere Pro CS3

Your source material and Premiere are causing problems. You may be better off with either better source material or a different editing environment.

                Hi Harm

I was hoping this would not be the case.

I have sent a note requesting different source material from the company.

Are the issues around the audio compression and the audio being Mono instead of Stereo?

If we can't get this working in Adobe Premiere, can you suggest another piece of software where we can comp this together?

Its a linear video with text on a full colour background breaking up sections of video. We are also adding simple audio effects on the top to keep it interesting.

                Cheers

                Ben

Since the source codec is Techsmith, you may try Camtasia.
