I am glad I bought Cineform. It is worth it!!!!!
Glad.....? How can you be glad that you purchased another product to do what CS3 is supposed to do?
I'm happy that Cineform works for you, I just think it stinks that we pay this much for a product that doesn't work.
Adobe has us by the short ones.
> How can you be glad that you purchased another product to do what CS3 is supposed to do?
CLEARLY you do not see the benefits of Cineform. Regardless of the platform I use I would purchase Cineform for it's codec.
I maintain the best quality all the time.
And by the way if you are in this industry spending a few hundred bucks to edit is no big deal when you factor in all other costs. I worked on a documentary in Africa last year and the cost of flying all over Africa and the 30+ crew for 2 weeks, gear rental, crew wages, music and and and... was MUCH more than the few extra bucks on Cineform!!
In fact we spent more on food and water... and we spent nearly 40 times more money on extra hard drive space to store the footage.
If you are a "home" user like you then well it sucks to be you I guess....

Trust me you pay more for other costs in the professional world. I spent more on recording the voice over artist and the studio time to do 70+ minutes of voice over for the documentary.
My work as an editor, being paid at my normal daily rate, paid for Cineform in 4 hours I think....
Sorry off topic now.
Wow,....didn't mean to ruffle the feathers, sorry. I didn't know I was talking to THE Adrian South.
Anyway, I just think it sucks that the whole HDV thing isn't supported as well as it should be. I agree, Cineform does a good job and it's relatively inexpensive, I would just like CS3 to work with HDV as advertised.
When was the last time you saw an advertisement for a big juicy hamburger and when you finally walked into the store and got one, it looked nothing like the picture.
By purchasing Cineform, I feel like I have to go back to the restaurant as ask for the burger in the advertisement, and the pimple faced teenager says, "Ohhhh, you wanted that one,... that'll be another $2.50."
>When was the last time you saw an advertisement for a big juicy hamburger and when you finally walked into the store and got one, it looked nothing like the picture.
Every single time you walk into a fast food joint.
I agree with both comments. The Cineform codecs are very good from what I have read and may warrant the extra cash. On the other hand Adode PP CS3 should have native support for all the major formats leaving Cineform as an option rather than an extra must have expense.

IT DOES. For me I have had no sync problems or other problems with native HDV or HD editing in Premiere, apart from system crashes and low memory warnings...
