What are you using now? What is your budget?
You can get a decent Quad Core systems with Nvida 8400 graphics card for just about a grand from HP (m9100t).
It should work much better than my system from 06. My system is only a Core 2 Dual at 2.13 GHZ with a 7300 LE card. I build my own editing systems but the HP system has a real nice price. I may opt to get on of these myself real soon.
If you want the dual quad core system(xw8600)ckeck out the link below.
HP xw8600 Workstation
It make a take while to load the page.
I have a sweet system but I'm thinking that the reason why its not optimized is I'm running windows xp... not windows xp 64 bit... sad day ... i think this will fix my problem... stay tuned
in the mean time,
q6600 quad core processor
4gb ddr2 corsair 8500 ram
8800 Ultra Gphx card
Asus Striker Extreme Mo Bo
Adobe CS3 Master Collection
I use XP 32 bit and it rocks for DV-25. Your system should work OK with HD using 32 bit.
? I don't seem to know what DV-25 is and I'm not having a problem with HD, I'm just trying to optimize my system and I'm trying to figure out where the bottleneck is. XP 32 doesn't support 4 GB of RAM from what I've researched. And thus my CS3 is hindered, I'd imagine. Maybe... Please help great minds of Adobe!
Windows XP 32 bit supports 4 GB of RAM. CS3 supports up to 16 cores.
Check some of my threads in the last month.
Including this one:
Building a system: Which motherboard do you suggest for PP ?
Although CS3 will run on 64bit XP, Adobe does not support it and CS3 is not optimized for 64bit.
DV-25 is Mini DV or 25 megabits pers second as opposed to DV-50 or HD-100.
Drew, what format are you using for production? If not DV-25 then what cameras and tape decks are you using?
It could be that some third-part hardware may come into play here such as that offered by AJA or Blackmagic.
I'm using MiniDvs with a Canon XHA1 Camera... although we're selling an old beta cam and hoping to upgrade to the panasonic p2 stuff. that'd be nice... Hmm interesting stuff and thanks for sharing. We're thinking about upgrading to vista, am i completely off in thinking that formatting my system and either reloading xp pro or upgrading to vista will fix how slow my (should-be) fast computer and cs3 is running? and what's up with the premeire pro keyboard shortcut bug!? did that ever get fixed?
Oh and that means DV-25 on that last one if i wasn't clear... and i capture using adapters and DVC Pro machines... if that helps... anything yall need to know let me know, i really want to make sure its all streamline...
What are the adapters? If you're using DV you should be able to get away with Firewire. However, if there's a mix of formats something like the cards I mentioned above are definitely worthwhile.
Whats the story on PP not reqognising all of the audio drivers? It says my audio driver for the Intel DG33BU is not compatible.
