You'll have to buy a new processor. That might also mean a new motherboard and memory, so check carefully.
Yes I do, Jim,
I will buy a DELL-System with an Intel-processor.
That might be enough.
I´m sick of AMD-processors, I can tell you.
The program "Adobe Premiere Pro CS 3" needs SSE-2, something,
my current cpu "AMD Athlon XP 3000+" (born in the year 2003)
What do You think of DELL-Computers ?
Is that a good choice for video editing ?
Depending on the Dell, they can be good... just do some reading around this forum to find out about hardware to be sure you get one that will work for video editing, such as in this section http://www.adobeforums.com/webx/.3bbecb1a/ (there are also a lot of other hardware subjects)
Some random thoughts...
At least 2 Gig memory
TWO hard drives, one for software one for data
NOT with an integrated sound card
NOT with an integrated video display card
You can get a decent Quad Core systems with Nvida 8400 graphics card for just about a grand from HP (m9100t).
If you want the dual quad core system(xw8600)ckeck out the link below.
It make a take while to load the page.
I prefer building the computer myself, mostly because I get to choose the exact parts I want and can get them cheaper. But, when I was looking around for a prebuilt computer, I did find HP to be a better value than Dell.
