1. Re: Proper Aspect Ratio Using HDV Camera to DVD End Product?
Spoot51 May 15, 2008 2:56 PM (in response to Spoot51)Filming with Sony HDV camera. Should I set project settings to 16:9 aspect ratio when creating project in PPro when the end result is to be burned onto regular old (non-BluRay) DVD?
Will the DVD look better if project setting is 4:3, even though the DVD will be played on widescreen TV?
Thanks... -
2. Re: Proper Aspect Ratio Using HDV Camera to DVD End Product?
JSS1138 May 15, 2008 4:50 PM (in response to Spoot51)If the camera is set to record anamorphic widescreen (meaning a Pixel Aspect Ratio of 1.2 for DV and 1.3 for HDV, as opposed to just adding black bars), then choose a widescreen preset in Premiere for editing.
If the camera is set to record 4:3, with or without black bars, then choose a regular preset for editing. -

Steven L. Gotz May 15, 2008 5:23 PM (in response to Spoot51)Your HDV camera is probably shooting HDV, therefore the best way to edit is to edit 16:9 (1.333) and export SD Widescreen 16:9 (1.2)
