One last thing - is there a way to change the timeline view so that it looks like Nero 7 and Windows Movie Maker so that you can see each segment as its own components and not just one long timeline stretch?
Premiere's timeline view is pretty standard for a pro NLE. The others use a much simpler view for the non professional. I don't think Premiere will accommodate that, as it really is a pro level editor.
Just zoom in on the area where the Current Time Indicator (CTI) is located. Look in the lower left of the timeline panel and see the small mountains and large mountains. Play with them to get the feel for it all.

Take the training on Lynda.com for only $25 for the month and you can get other training in there for the same money if you devote the time to it.
