I believe the 3.2 update added support for the format, which may not even be all that critical if you go the Cineform route.
My guess is it'll work fine.
I would fo over to the http://www.dvinfo.net/conf/forumdisplay.php?f=76 forum (the Cineform Showcase forum section). The CTO and CEO of Cineform hang out there. They will be interested in hearing about your feature and they can be very helpful.

AFAIK there is not a NLE that edits the files from the HDCAM tape, you must get the post house to specify the codec used.
What codec do the top of the line pictures shot on Genesis use anyways during post production?
No idea but they'd be using a Panalog curve and RGB 444 I guess if they are on FCP they would use ProRez or Avid they would use DNxHD.
Which is why I say use Cineform for Premiere. It has better visual fidelity and provides the smoothest editing experience you will ever experience.
