How can effectively I mix a 4:3 video in a 16:9 video project (Widescreen)?

I have captured a marriage with 2 cameras. A widescreen camera and a trraditional 4:3 one.
Most of the Video is captured with the widescreen camera but there is a small part (20%) taken with the old camera.

I want to put that 20% of 4:3 video in a project created for the widescreen camera. I came up with the following methods:

      1. Change the aspect of the 4:3 in 16:9 (but I will be coming up with a distorded video)

2.Zooming the 4:3 Video until it covers the whole 16:9 screen (but I'm gonna loose the upper and the lower part of the video)

Both methods have diffects. Is there any other method?

      P.S.
How can I realize the 1st method? Is somewhere an option for changing the aspect in the video effects?

      Thank you
