I haven't used it yet, but I thought it was a stand alone application to upres clips before being imported into Premiere or AE.
No. I have used it a few times and owned it for sometime.
Its weird that suddenly it has become an AEFX plugin when it used to be a PPRO2 plugin and an AEFX plugin.
Just not certain if it is CS3 compatible in the Premiere version which I still have.
The Update is only for AEFX CS3 and that will not be a preffered workflow for an upcoming production we are about to shoot.
I would chat up Red Giant directly to see if you can get an answer... they are pretty quick to reply and you may get what you want just by asking.
I've got it working in CS3, but the new version is for AE only. I spoke with someone from Red Giant about it at NAB this past year, and he mentioned something about how Adobe changed the way PPro CS3 works with plugins as being part of the reason the new version was moving to AE only.
Instant HD (standard) will work in PPRO CS3, but you have to have the 1.1 version. On the update page there is only a link for AE 1.1, but on the product download page, there is a version 1.1 for PPRO CS3.

Thats what I noticed. (I wll now try and find the CS3 PPRO vers 1.1)
I guess my next question will be: Are they going to release InstanT HD Advanced as a CS3 PPRO piugin. Looks like only AEFX at the moment.
I will ask them directly.

I can not find this at all.
1.1 works in CS3. At any rate, you can always set up your clip in AE, then Dynamic Link in PPro to get the desired result (for the most part).
Christian - are you saying 1.1 works in PPRO.(CS3)...cos I doubt it and the website would confirm that.
I am aware it works for AEFX (CS3) but that would not be my prefered workflow in this instance.
Too slow and too much material required to be "treated". (also it will be edited on the Mac in FCP so I would have to contend with a cross platform thing as well)
At the moment I will use PPRO2 and Instant HD to do the job.
Irony - Red Giant have released Instant HD Advanced today (only for AEFX though)
I'm using Instant HD in PPro CS3 as well...so far, it's worked fine for me.
Graig, if you go to the Red Giant site and click on the compatibility link for Instant HD (Standard) you will see that PPRO CS3 is listed. I'm not sure why the update for PPRO is not on the updates page. I just got Instant HD Advanced and when they sent me the link to download Instant HD Advanced I also noticed Instant HD 1.1 (Standard)was on the page. So, I downloaded it (since I have 1.0) and it does work in PPRO CS3. If you email them, I bet they will send you the link. As far as Instant HD Advanced goes, I heard that they might make it for PPRO as well if there is a large enough demand for it.
From their site:
Adobe After Effects CS3, 7, 6.5
Adobe Premiere Pro CS3, 2.0
Apple Final Cut Pro 6, 5.1.4
Yep I see that now. It differs from their other page but whatever....
Seems to me the easy way in the absence of an update ...is just to buy it again so that I get the 1.1 version that I can install in my CS3 Suite.
I seldom rely upon websites to confirm my own experiences. They tend to be slow and unreliable
> They tend to be slow and unreliable
What do: your experiences?
I emailed them because I am confused and want them to confirm.
What ever... I still need it for my project but in Premiere , not AEFX.
Hopefully I can run it in Premiere CS3 as indicated by KMS but I dont want to buy Advanced vers for AEFX just to get Standard 1.1 for Premiere.

Hrm, it's close, but....ah, and it looks like the judges will accept that response. 10 points - great work!
They have confirmed that it is Compatible with Premiere CS3 (Windows vers only) and they will correct their website.
