    MPEG-2 playing issues

I have an MPEG-2 file that plays fine in Windows media player,
but all CS3 products give me the green area, and will crash if
I work with them. (ie try and play them)

It uses the LINGOS codec for Video and FFDSHOW for Audio.

Why can't CS3 play it, if Windows Media Player can?

Its there a way to see what codec CS3 is trying to use to read
      it?

We have hundreds of mpg-2's that will have this condition, and I have to edit and make DVD's using them. Currently we have another machine with
a DVDit copy that we use to make them now.
