If you are working with SD, I thnk the easiest way is to export each timeline from PPRO to a DV AVI file. Then open Encore and import all the avis as timelines. Encore will then auto transcode them all when you are ready to make the dvd at the appropriate encoding rates based on the total length and assets in the encore project.
I have used all HDV files in P CS3 and then rendered all the timelines.
Now I just want to import into Encore CS3 as is. I thought Encore could do this and then export to standard DVD.
I have only had encore for a week but i'm sure its somthing simple.
I'm a bit confused now.
I have just been into P CS3 and exported a 5 min section using 'export to encore'
It then rendered and opened in encore as a .m2v file. And opened in the encore timeline.
Is that ok? or will encore re-render the clips and lose quality when I output?
sorry, i'm just confused.
Yep; that will work. You will just need to do it for each timeline.
That then creates a new encore project for each timeline I bring in!
Surely that can't be right?
Then I have to set up yet another encore project (number 6) and then import the other 5?
All I want to do is bring 5 P CS3 HDV projects into encore and then play about with them and burn a dvd!
I'm sure it must be easier than that.
Your reaction is the same as we all have (had) when 'Export to Encore was introduced.' Unfortunately Ppro has no Batch export. Really bad bad bad... But, what can you do?
What you could do is:
- create a new timeline, and call it "DVD export, or something"
- place (nest) your five sequences in there
- place Encore Chapter Markers (the rond ones, NOT the regular 'little houses') as scene/chaper markers in the timeline in Premiere. Encore will see these as chapters.
- use "Export to Encore" with the proper setting.
If you don't want to do this nesting thing you will need to export each sequence separately.
Hope this helps.
I export the 5 projects/timelines' to .mv2 using Pro.
Then import all 5 into ONE Encore project. (dont forget the associated .wav files). (10 files to import)
These can then be put onto ONE timeline in Encore - if you want them to play as one long play... or 5 timelines in Encore (one project) and then the play order contrlled via menu...eg one menu option per pp3 project. Linked via Menu... (Flow Control).
