    Workflow Question

    si conehead Level 2
      I am running CS3.

My ultimate goal is to create a DVD from a 1 hour movie created in Premiere
      Pro CS3.

Is there any advantage to doing "Export/Movie" versus "Export to Encore"?
Aside from creating a .avi file that takes as long to create as the movie is
long, are there any other advantages/disadvantages? The "Export to Encore"
creates an mpeg file in about 20 minutes.

For a one hour movie, there is no benefit to an intermediate AVI. Encode at best quality for Encore using Adobe Media Encoder export from Premiere.

If you have more than about 90 minutes, allowing Encore to automatically determine the data rate to fit onto the available disk space can be beneficial for those who don't want to do their own bitrate calculations. In that case, an intermediate AVI can be justified..

In CS4, of course, the problem goes away due to the introduction of dynamic link of projects from Premiere to Encore.
