Are you using a custom preset in desktop mode? If so you can not change the settings once you create the preset. You need to start a new custom desktop preset and chose the output then.
It's also my understanding the HDV preview output is not possible, if that's what you're trying to do.
Yeah, Im trying to preview captured HDV footage on the camera's LCD.
So you cannot preview HDV on the camera's LCD?
Thus meaning i cannot view footage on an external monitor/TV also?
Could i get a second opinion?
(not that I don't trust you of course!!!
You need a video card that has HD output. It would plug directly into your hd Monitor. HDV does not output through firewire.
Oh well, I'll forget about that then!

Why would you need to? Just asking because it seems weird to preview on a small screen? ;-)
I was really wanting to preview on a TV through the camera.
I used to do this before I moved from DV to HDV.
Im not really sure the monitors I have are up to all that much, so i was wanting to preview on a TV aswell.
There are some serious differences between DV and HDV. The real answer is to buy one of the graphics cards with component outputs, or a Matrox RTX.2 (wait until I get done testing it in a few weeks) or the Matrox Axio.
The graphics cards are not that expensive. Look at the Matrox Parhelia APVe (I will have one on EBay soon) and the NVidia Quadro FX-560.
Something like the Blackmagic Intensity card, probably cheaper than a really good graphics card, and much cheaper than a Matrox, will give you HD preview via HDMI output.

Yes, I like this solution. Although Cineform does not play with it nicely yet. No monitor out vis HDMI when using cineform presets.
Are you using CIneform?
