>Capture function in Premiere only checks the firewire port
Yes... that is
ALL Premiere will do, since that is all that is written in the program code
When I used Premiere 6 and a Pinnacle Dv500 card... Premiere only SEEMED to be doing the capturing... it was actually placing a program call to the installed Dv500 software, and the Dv500 software did all the work behind the Premiere screen
As far as I know, no such software add-in has ever been written for any version of Premiere Pro
For an analog source (tape or, maybe, TV) look at...
Or Canopus brand http://www.videoguys.com/canopus.htm
"Matt with Grass Valley Canopus in their tech support department
stated that the 110 will suffice for most hobbyist. If a person
has a lot of tapes that were played often the tape stretches and
the magnetic coding diminishes. If your goal is to encode tapes
in good shape buy the 110, if you will be encoding old tapes of
poor quality buy the 300"
