Hi from Jim,
I'm having a similar problem with PPro CS3, when I combine AE projects imported with video transitions, I get either "application failed to return a video frame" or when rendering I get "unknown error."
That unknown error is so helpful! I submitted a web case to tech support days ago with no answer.
I see the brilliant people on this board have not addressed your question, which to me means IT'S A BUG with no solution short of a fix from Adobe.
Seems to me like using their products in a straightforward manner should not cause these errors.
If anyone has ideas please post them here.
Look for a blank space in your time line or corrupted frame around the place where you get this error. Also remove any kLite codec packs you may have installed, they only cause grieve.
I've still the same problem and there are no blankspaces or corrupt frames I'm sure. The system is a fresh install so no 3rd party codecs other than those provided by Adobe.
For test, I tried having nothing in the sequence but the AE project itself and it still has the error. I am able to render the project in AE however with no problem.
I can't replicate it.
I overlayed on a higher video track a dynamically linked comp from AE and had no problems. Neither before the comp, during or after.
As for me, no, I am a complete nitwit, have no relevant IT education, and it is simply a
i money wasting effort
if I am to believe the CFO (my wife).
