Maybe it is "QT that conflicts with CS4 PremPro and SoundBoth"
I would put the cause entirely on the QT component. It is famous for updating and then causing issues.
Try an older version of QT
I'm getting exactly this problem too
I intalled the latest version of QT as of today and I can't start Premiere Pro
First the ImporterService or whatever it's called dies and then Premiere can't render any video - I just get a red screen with an error in my monitors where the video should be
Any one else?
And sure enough, uninstall and it works fine
It seemed to be a conflict with an Avid Codec I have...
Just FYI in case that helps anyone...
I'm having the same problem with both Soundbooth and Premiere Pro. When Quicktime is installed, both crash soon after launch. When I uninstall, they both work fine. I would not ever use Quicktime because it always causes problems, except a stupid but large client of mine insists on having quicktime on his web site.
Is there a way of disabling the import/export to quicktime features in the programs? This is probably what is causing the conflict.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Try installing Quicktime 7.4.5. It seems work well with Premiere 4.0.1
With regards to QT and Adobe products, I usually keep several versions available. Nothing in the 7.4.x range worked for me. I installed 7.3.5 and all was good. I then installed 7.5.5, when it was available, and it also worked. Have not tried 7.6, but based on some reports, will hold off on doing so.
Thanks guys for the advice. I tried 7.5.5 and Premiere worked, but Soundbooth did not. 7.4.5 did not fix Soundbooth either. I removed the Adobe products and installed Quicktime Alternative, a free program. Streaming video on the net worked, as did playing QT files locally. Best of all, both Premiere and Soundbooth worked without a glitch. I think the problem is solved.
