Hi, I have been trying to edit MainConcept MPEG-2 (.mpg) files in Premier CS4 trial version. The file compatibility info on Adobe's web site states that .mpg files are acceptable and the explorer tries to load them. I get an error message stating that the file is not recognized or damaged. I have tried several files and even imported them into other editors including Vagus Pro 8 without problems. Even Bridge will load and play the files without difficulty. These were generated on a Newtek Tricaster Studio. I can render them and use them but that's an extra time consuming step.
I like Premier's looks and features, but need mpeg-2 support.
Note: The free trial version of Adobe Premiere Pro does not include some features that depend upon software licensed from parties other than Adobe. For example, some codecs for encoding MPEG formats are available only with the full version of Adobe Premiere Pro software.
