I guess what I am asking is whether CS3 or CS4 is reliable.
My second question is, how are my specs for CS4?:
Windows Vista Home Premium 32-bit
Intel Core 2 Quad (2.5GHz)
NVIDIA GeForce 9300GE
2GHz or faster processor for DV
1,280x900 display with OpenGL 2.0compatible graphics card - not sure if I have OpenGL 2.0
CS4 has many features that I like a lot. It is not as stable(yet) as CS 3.2
CS4 runs better (in my opinion and others) on Vista x64.
If the 1.5 project does not consist of many effects the upgrade should not cause you many problems.
CS4 runs very stable on my machine with vista 64.
No effects at all. I only have transitions, which are cross dissolve and dip to black. I am trying CS4 trial now and both have these two transitions. I love the fact that it has a YouTube preset in the media encoder and that you can preview your output when you export media. Seems like they combined Export > Movie with Adobe Media Encoder. So far its running pretty good on my 32-bit vista. Just wanted to see if anyone else has any issues before I commit to upgrading to CS4.
A lot of people are having issues. A lot of people aren't. Seems it's pot luck which camp you'll end up in.
