1. Re: Premiere CS4 Cineform HDV to SD down convert
joshtownsend Mar 9, 2009 10:34 AM (in response to E Baldwin)Did you update to the Cineform version that supports CS4? If not that your problem.
But the bigger problem is Cineform doesn't support CS4 yet. -

joshtownsend Mar 9, 2009 10:38 AM (in response to E Baldwin)Good article though.
Using his method you just have to make an uncompressed or visually uncompressed 1080 master from Premiere using a codec other than Cineform. Then convert to DVD in AME.
Maybe the 'max render quality' bypasses applies the FX before the reduction and that's why it takes so long. -

To me Cineform does a much better job of doing the down convert than AME plus Cineform retains the color space. It realy looks good.
I am running the latest level of New Scene and it does not fully support CS4. The only problem I am having is the down convert. The down convert works fine in Vegas Pro 8.0c so I am not sure if the problem is AME, Neo Scene, or me. I believe I have the AME render parameters set correctly but I was hoping someone else had tried so I had some additional info. -

joshtownsend Mar 9, 2009 1:04 PM (in response to E Baldwin)I'm trying to tell you Cineform files don't write or read in any CS4 product. I wasn't disagreeing about how cineform looks just trying to give you a work around because your cineform file rendered in Vegas WILL NOT work in CS4.
understand now? -

The Vegas rendered cineform (Neo Scene) files work fine in CS4! Neo Scene is a Cinform VFW codec shared by all. Cineform files work fine in CS4. Playback maybe a little slow depending your hardware until the loader is released. Downconvert with AME was the only problem I encountered. Read the Cineform forum. Are you always this caustic. -

joshtownsend Mar 9, 2009 3:54 PM (in response to E Baldwin)Maybe you'll be so kind as to point me where on Cineform's site they say any of there products are CS4 compatible?
Everywhere I see they say CS4 coming "late January" or "by Febuary".
http://www.cineform.com/products/NeoScene.htm
"* CS2 and CS3 are currently supported. CS4 support will be available in February 2009"
and this
http://www.cineform.com/products/Prospect.htm
"Until the time we release Prospect HD for CS4 (around the end of January 2009), all Aspect HD customers may upgrade to Prospect HD for $199 at our online store. All upgrades prior to our release for CS4 will be to Prospect HD v3. All PHD v3 upgrades will also come with a free upgrade to Prospect HD v4 (late January) that will support CS4." -

E Baldwin Mar 9, 2009 4:10 PM (in response to E Baldwin)"Neo Scene 1.1 is CS4 compatible..." You can read the remainder of the thread: http://www.dvinfo.net/conf/cineform-software-showcase/144784-neo-scene-1-1-2-release-wind ows.html. Neo Scene is still in development.
