You tell me.
Have you changed anything on your system at all?
Installed new software?
Updated any software?
Gotten new e-mails?
Anything at all?
This would be helpful to start solving the problem.
I wish I knew. But since I've deleted partition, formatted and reinstalled Windows and CS4 from scratch It gotta be something else. Done that 3 times now with different settings and I now I've gone back to CS3.
Sadly half of my project was converted to CS4 and that part is unaccesible now. After a few days of hell I have moved over to alcohol. Its not solving this hellish problem but I feel like crap at least.
A solution would be great. Any aces up anyones sleves?
Finish your projects in the version you started with. Never upgrade and continue with projects from a previous version. If you need to, use an old backup file.
Does HDV need something similar to P2 ie. P2 drivers? (Which I assume provide the DVCPro Codecs to the NLE)
Maybe you could compare system video codecs with someone that is running HDV. Do a list and post it up.
> Does HDV need something similar to P2 ie. P2 drivers?
Nope Its been working perfect witout anything. No drivers or anything. The odd thing is in Capture window I can't select HDV Capture. That option is gone. Its not shaded or anything its simply gone. All I can select is DV.
Have you changed the project setting to DV? (dv preset)
Nope. I have not changed the settings. And when opening old projects that are made in HDV the HDV setting is gone as well as all hdv files are unvieweble. CS4 doesnt want to have anything to do with HDV.
...and nor do I ....but I also do not understand that HDV needs no codec or driver or whatever to play in a computer. Is it magic video?
Did you do a "compare" as I suggested.
OK HDV is not a file format as I understand, its merly a gathering name for better quality media. Now when I can't select HDV to capture from a HDV camera I cant capture new files to see if they work better then the 1TB of HDV files I got in my computer that doesn't work. My DV camera and files from it works just fine but I cant even capture from my HDV camera. Those settings/options are gone.
I don't think it has anything to do with codecs. I could be wrong but..
And since when removing partition, re installing windows and CS4 the options are still gone. I suspect that CS4 have done something to project files that is really bad. Something that makes me wanna drink and get a new different job.
How did you capture over 75 hours of material if you can't capture?
As mentioned in first post "Suddenly in the middle of a project CS4 stopped to recognize HDV files. "
According to Adobe the only certified HDV camera is the Canon HV30.
"Adobe tests a large variety of camcorders during development and has found that most DV camcorders work in Adobe Premiere Pro CS4 with no problems.
If you are concerned that your camera may not work with Adobe Premiere Pro CS4, we invite you to download the trial version (http://www.adobe.com/go/trypremiere_pro). The trial version of Adobe Premiere Pro CS4 provides 30 days of full-functionality DV editing."
Here's the 12 camera they fully support???!!?!?

Whats ironic about that is the trial doesnt support HDV editing.
But, I havent tried a DV or HDV cam yet that hasnt worked.
