I have been using CS4 since it first was released a few weeks ago. I use psd files for picture montages. They are full frame size files 720x480 with 1 basic layer.
Everything has been working "fine" in version 4.0.0 with these images and transitions.
SINCE UPDATING TO 4.0.1 TRANSITIONS NO LONGER WORK after rendering. In fact, at the end of the transition, image 1 HARD CUTS into image 2 rather than dissolving nicely as it did before.
Same result on my other machine running 4.0.1. Updated it and then it too was having same problem. NOTHING ELSE has changed with these machines to cause this.
How the h_ _ _ do you roll back an update? This sucks.
OE. Start reading on handles.
I've been having trouble with transitions from the start!! Sometimes when you render a transition it seems like all is well until you modify that transition to make it longer or shorter and then the video will "skip" from where the transition was modified. Really annoying!
This is not OE. There is a definite bug with transitions!!!
I'm not seeing that. I just tried adjusting some transitions, and it played fine. Maybe I'm missing something?
I have experienced the similar transition issues as you have it seems. I am using no third party plugins or transitions other than simple 'cross dissolve' or 'zoom' most frquently.
I have experienced this "adjusting problem" with video clips and with still images (.psd files for a "pictures montage")
Obviously these things worked in 3 but are problematic in 4.0.0 and even more so in 4.0.1
Focusing on the "new" issue with the still images I am having with the update to 4.0.1...using psd files, I amd doing the folowing:
I import the .psd files and then use 'automate to sequence' for a bin of still images that are single layer, simple, full frame .psd files. The lay down on the Sequence with no problem. I select 30frame overlap using the default transition (cross dissolve)
Heres the problem:
In 4.0.0 the simple 30 frame overlap cross dissolved worked (both unrendered and rendered)
But since updating to 4.0.1, the same procedure is followed using the same or even a new group of .psd files. I 'Automate to sequence'...I then scrub or preview and the UNRENDERED transition and ir dissolves just fine. I THEN RENDER and playback...and now the TRANSITION is not working / not dissolving. After rendereing its now just a "hard cut" at the end of each transition from image 1 to 2 to 3 to 4 and so on.
Go into effect controls and scub over 'actual sources' and it dissolves fine...BUT IT DOES NOT dissolve fine on the Sequence and not when exported using Media Encoder.
This all worked fine for me 24 hours ago in 4.0.0
The adjusting length of transitions glitch, however, has not worked so much using 4.0.0 or 4.0.1. It did work in 3.x though
Wil or Sheri, please, Could you test this problem?
It does not matter what kind of graphic file (psd, tga, tiff, bmp, eps,...) and type of transition (dissolve, page curls,...).
After rendering does not play any transition.
Playing before rendering no problem. It is only after rendering.
Sorry,Forgive my English.
I've just tried testing again, and it all seems to be working here. I did notice that I did have issues with transitions in projects started in CS3 and then opened in CS4, but everything seems normal in CS4 created projects.
Tell me where I've gone wrong: Open a project, import a photoshop file, add a cross disolve at both ends, render, then adjust transition length, and re-render...all that results in it working just as it should with no problems...
Hi Eric, Are you test it with the 4.0.1 update?
I do not understand anything.
Without the update does not have this problem.
Yeah - I tested it with the 4.0.1 update...
Although I did find what could be a bug - try a garbage matte on an image file...doesn't work quite right.
Any update on this issue, I'm having the same problem.
