Is it posible to do this in your camera settings? (ie record the Timedate Stamp)
Its not available anymore Harm
Also my fav work around AE can do it. (I'm telling ya if they merged AE and premiere it would be the NLE to end all NLE's).
Are you sure AEFX can burn in Time Date Stamp Josh ?
Right click on a clip and select Properties from the drop down menu. Scroll down to AVI File Details and look at the Timecode field. Most likely it is blank and that is the problem.
While you can change the User Timecode and Reel name using File\Timecode, only the Reel name is updated in the Properties.
If you can find a utility or method to change the Timecode field, please let me know as this will also solve many other problems.
I can see the EXIF information in my avi files using ZTree Gold but I don't know where Adobe is looking for it. Still just a tape-based mind set apparently.
If you need assistance getting the burn-in window to appear, I can help you with that but, so far, this timecode issue has me stumped.
I'll let you know if I make any progress...
Adobe appends information to the end of the file and there are some extra fields such as alt_TC and start_TC that are not populated. If you change User Timecode in the program, it is reflected in a field here.

Yes. Did the search in AE help for ya link above.
It seems like half the post in this forum come from people not bothering to do a search.
Like I respond with a solution but I have to do the search and post it because why.....
Not directed just at you CRAIG, just this forum in general.
Josh . The link only references the Timecode Effect (this is also avalable in Premiere).
The O.P wants Time Date Stamp as well as Timecode.
Sorry wrong link. Been playing with Red Footage in AE all day/night need some rest, mind mind has been blown. Came up in the community help not the 'manual help' (changed to default in cs4.0.1).
From what I can see from trying that script in AE CS4, it wants to use the system clock, not the clip datacode, to determine the date.
