What codec and from what camera? How was it captured?
When you say "a recorded MPEG file" I get the feeling you're trying to edit out the commercials of a TV program.
For that, I recommend sticking with those other programs you mentioned.
Yes you are correct I recorded the file from TV not from a Camera.
The only diference is that now Premiere has to read a much bigger file
About the Codec not sure to answer this I use the DV PAL Pixel- D1/DV PAL (1,0940) Samplerate: 48000 Samples/Sekunde for Audio. But tried many different once. As said the first part of the file seem to be okay
