Capture is basically a direct transfer of the digital bits from tape to hard drive. Nothing get's changed. If you still see the problem with a proper external monitor setup, then it's likely the problem is in the source footage.
cant be the source it plays well out the camera to my HDTV....
i orginally stated that it played back in the media players poorly... i take that back...its ok....
but the play back from my time line is poor quality...if i play video @ 100% it looks very bad..... yes i have the video preview settings at high quality... i do have a beffy system..

What preset are you choosing when you create the sequence you are importing into?
Is there a red line over the clip on the timeline?
i have been using Premiere since V. 6.0 so i know what i am doing..... my concern is that while playing back it seems that the decoder not encoder is a bit under par.... has any one captured HDV 1080i video yet? and when you are displaying at 100% does it look ok to you? just trying to find out what the deal is here....
